Where is this space at 77 Charter Avenue?

It’s a space on the main level, Suite 100, in the residential apartment building at 77 Charter Avenue (on the corner of Charter Ave and East Drive). It used to be home to the NL Housing and Homelessness Network and the Network Cafe. Now, Stella’s Circle and Food First NL are working together to bring the space to life as an inclusive, welcoming community food and gathering space. 

Is the space accessible?

Yes, the main entrance on East Drive is wheelchair accessible with powered doors. There are two gendered multi-stall washrooms that are also wheelchair accessible. The event space is all on one level with no stairs. 

Is anything already planned for the space?

The purpose of this community consultation is to gather input on the best ways to use the space and make it meet the needs of the community.  While affordable food markets, an on-site cafe, food-based workshops, and community meals are planned, there is still lots of room for the community to help shape what these will look like.

Why is my feedback important?

 Stella’s Circle and Food First NL want to create a community space that works for everyone. Hearing from residents, businesses, and community partners will help make the most of this space. Your input will guide how to use the space, build on successful programs, and create new opportunities to work together.

There are various ways to share your thoughts and opinions! Here’s how:

  1. Attend an in-person town hall meeting

    Share your thoughts and a bite with us in the new community food space! Attendees have a chance to win a gift card to Hungry Heart Café or Food on the Move!
